Just about out of my Gillette Mach 3 blades, I decided to step up to a more advanced shaving system. There have been so many innovations since I was a kid. From single blade razors to double, and now we models with three, four or more. I went onto the web to find out which is today's best shaving system. What I found out surprised me.
At least as important as the razor and blade is the lather. The perfect lather is an incorporation an abundant amount of water with a glycerin based cream or soap. Hydrating lather can enable closer shaves without skin irritation much more effectively than the pressurized foam most men now use. The secret to creating a great lather is a badger hair shaving brush. Badger hair naturally soaks up and holds lots of water. Whipping up a quality shaving cream or soap with a water soaked badger brush produces the ideal lather.
Single blade razors were my fathers only choice. Today, we can remove our facial hair with up to five blades simultaneously. Which one should I chose? Come to find out, Dad's double edged razor and blades beats the pants off of any that followed it. Quality double edged razors are still available today for those that desire the best possible shaving experience. And extremely sharp, double edged blades cost up to eighty percent less than some multiple blade cartridges.
I bought a couple of European shaving creams. The natural, subtle fragrances are so nice. On order is a double edged razor, a badger shaving brush and a stand. So I will soon become a classic shaver. I can hardly wait. Following are photos of my system:
